Privacy Policy

Abaqwa SARL (“Abaqwa”, “we”) operates the Abaqwa platform — a multi-service mobility, parcel, intercity, rental, hotel-booking, and errand application available in the Republic of Cameroon. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, how we store it, who we share it with, and the rights you can exercise over it.
1. Information we collect
- Account data — name, phone number, email address, profile photo, and (for drivers and merchants) identity documents we are legally required to verify before you can transact on the platform.
- Location data — pickup, drop-off, and live trip coordinates while a ride is in progress; merchant address; driver background location while on shift.
- Payment data — wallet balance, transaction history, and the masked reference of any third-party payment method (QuataPay) you choose to use. We do NOT store full card numbers or mobile-money PINs.
- Device data — operating system version, app version, push-notification token, crash reports.
2. How we use it
To match you with a driver / merchant; settle payments; comply with KYC and tax law; provide customer support; debug crashes; send service-related notifications you can opt out of; prevent fraud and platform abuse.
3. Sharing
We share the minimum information necessary to fulfil the service: your name + pickup address with your assigned driver; your transaction reference with QuataPay; aggregated, de-identified analytics with our hosting and crash-reporting providers (Firebase, Sentry).
4. Storage + security
Account, KYC, and transaction data live in PostgreSQL hosted in the European Union. Database backups are encrypted at rest and access is restricted to platform engineers under background-checked employment agreements.
5. Your rights
- Access — download a JSON export of every record tied to your account at any time from your account settings, or by emailing privacy@abaqwa.com.
- Correction — fix any inaccurate field from the in-app profile screens.
- Deletion — request account closure and deletion of your personal data via the in-app delete-account page, or by emailing privacy@abaqwa.com. We retain anonymised transaction history for 6 years to satisfy Cameroon tax obligations; identifying fields are stripped immediately on request.
- Object / withdraw consent— for marketing-style notifications, toggle them off in app Settings > Notifications. Service-critical messages (booking confirmations, OTP) cannot be turned off without closing the account.
6. Children
The Abaqwa platform is not directed at children under 13. If you become aware that a minor has registered, contact us and the account will be removed.
7. International transfers
Your data may be processed in the European Union by our hosting provider; SCC-style contractual safeguards apply.
8. Changes
We post material changes to this page and notify users in-app when the change touches their rights. The “Last updated” date at the top is authoritative.
